Encouraging Progress: I-20 Support and Fee Waiver
Many admitted international students are currently taking a “wait and see” approach when it comes to the I-20 and visa process. Governors State University (GSU) understands these concerns and is actively working to support students in moving forward confidently.
I-20 Fee Waiver (May 26 – June 1, 2025):
To ease the process, GSU is waiving the $200 I-20 deposit fee for all admitted international students during this period.
- Students can access the waiver through their application portal.
- After submitting the waiver form, students must also complete the I-20 request form and submit all required financial documents by June 15, 2025.
- If the June 15 deadline is missed, the $200 fee will be reapplied to the student’s account.
Strong U.S. Job Market and GSU’s Career Support
During recent international recruitment efforts, GSU learned that many students are concerned about post-graduation job opportunities in the United States. Here’s what you should know:
- The U.S. unemployment rate remains low, reported at 3.9%, signaling a healthy job market.
- Over 8 million job openings are available across the country.
- Key sectors such as technology, healthcare, engineering, and business are experiencing particularly strong growth—areas that many international students choose to pursue.
GSU’s Commitment to Career Success:
Governors State University has demonstrated exceptional success in helping students transition from graduation to employment. Nearly 100% of the 600 international students pursuing OPT have secured internships or meaningful employment before the end of their unemployment period. This reflects the quality of GSU’s programs and the continued demand for skilled international talent in the U.S. job market.
